Late-18th / Early 19th Century Pistol
Here we present an antique Mediterranean/Ottoman Style Flintlock Horse Pistol, made circa the end of the 18th century. Pistols like these were commonly used around the Mediterranean in the 18th and early 19th Centuries. The aesthetic, both in form and décor, are European.
This would have been like those weapons carried by Tripolitan pirates when the young United States sent the Marines to take care of them. This is a large pistol used for fighting but it was also a status symbol with its elaborate castings and engravings.
The action does not function. The bore is fitting for its age and appearance. The metal components contain elaborate floral designs. This flintlock pistol conjures images of pirate conflicts and treasure hunters out on the open sea! Add this great piece to your collection!
