Description:
SOLD.
Gorgeous 1954 vintage Model 97 specimen in scarce 16 gauge.  100% original.  Late production at #993,675.  They only made an additional 30,000 afterwards and stopped production in 1958.  It isn’t “perfect”, but still a solid 97-98% collector-grade Winchester, in my opinion, and an exceptional example of a Model 97.  Most were hard-working utility guns that got heavily used or cut down for cowboy action shooting.  This one would be a great addition to any pre-64 Winchester collection or a stand-out for SASS.  The only distractions are a tiny nick in the lower left edge of the receiver, a few very small nicks in the varnish on the buttstock, and some tiny spots of scattered stain or “freckling” on the barrel (not visible under normal light unless you look closely).  All shown in the pics.  Blue is still deep and shiny with no wear or loss on the high spots.  Butt plate is mint.  Of course I can’t prove it, but think this shotgun may be unfired — or had very few rounds fired.  Check out the bolt face -- No brass impact circle mark and the bluing on the bolt mechanism is still new.  Action and gun are solid, safe vault tight.  Also has no bluing loss or scratching where shells are fed in the underside of the receiver.  The bore also appears as new.  I think the minor external wear is just from handling and storage over the years.  Also, it’s a scarce 16 rather than the typical 12.   I’m asking $1550 -- Reduced from $1750.   Check it against Chinese Norinco copies listed $1200 and other listings up to $2000.  I've provided lots of high-definition pics that show larger-than-life detail.  The tiny white specks are just lint.  If there's anything I've missed that you would like to see, I'm glad to take a pic of that area.  Don't have to sell or need to sell - just reached an age to start reducing my collection.  I'm located east of DFW for a LEGAL in-person transfer to an eligible Texas ID resident.  Mobile # is CA for business, but I live in Texas.  Payment in US Postal MO's or major bank cashier's check only.  Ships USPS or UPS $75 insured to FFL or C&R.  Offered for sale with no trades or return.  I haven't sold much recently, but have always had 100% Positive rating on GI and GB.  No sale to any area where unlawful, or a state or local agency requires special procedures other than the normal FFL transfer.  Call me to discuss.
