Description:
Savage model 99R in 300 Savage.Built in 1954,this rifle is in outstanding all original conditon.It retains 98% of the original blue and wood finish. Features include a 24" barrel with a mint bore,hand checked walnut stock and forend,brass cartridge counter,factory drilled for scope or tang sight,case colored lever,lever safety,steel buttplate,factory open sights,factory sling swivels,and engine turned bolt. The 99R was billed by Savage as the "heavy rifle". It has a longer and wider forend and a heavier stock than other models. The 99R rifles are not nearly as common as some of the other models and are a little more collectible. They also have the reputation as very accurate rifles. This one is nice enough to put in a collection but not too nice to shoot and enjoy. A true classic big game rifle. C&R eligible.
