Description:
^^^   SOLD   ^^^   This boxlock ejector pigeon gun was originally made as a 16 bore by Boss at their Albemarle Street location in 1937. Cyril Adams had it sleeved by Ron Johnson, a well respected UK barrelmaker, and proofed in 2013 with 30-inch 20 bore barrels and topped by a flat crosshatched pigeon style rib. It has double triggers, automatic ejectors, and weighs 6lb 6oz.   ***   The 30” nitro steel sleeved barrels were proofed for 2-3/4” shotshells in 2013. They are topped by a raised solid wide pigeon style rib. The right barrel is bored 0.625 and has a constriction of 0.010 for 1/2 choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.034. The left barrel is also bored 0.625 with a constriction of 0.025 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.034.   ***   The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are made from nicely figured straight grain walnut and the buttstock has a 7/8” leather pad. Stock dimensions are 15-1/8” by 1-3/8” by 1-7/8”. Cast off for the righthand shot.   ***   The gun is cased in a period leather case with accessories including a 2-piece mahogany cleaning rod, snap caps and an oil bottle. The exterior of the case shows typical wear for its age. The inside appears to have been relined at sometime and is in pretty good condition.   ***   A WORD ON THE RARITY OF BRITISH SMALLBORES: Because British 12 bore doubles typically weighed around 6-3/4 lbs there was little demand for lightweight smallbores. The very few small bores manufactured were usually made for ladies or lads and accordingly equipped with short barrels and short stocks. So, finding a long barreled and long stocked British smallbore is a rare occurrence indeed!   ***   This is a very nice handling small bore pigeon gun made by the world’s best gunmaker, Boss & Co. between the wars. Sleeved with long 20 bore tubes it is fairly safe to say that it is unique. You may never get a chance again to own a gun like this.  ***   I am an FFL and will need a signed copy of your dealer's FFL. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period and will only accept returns at buyer’s expense.   ***   Come and see this great double and other fine firearms at the MacNab and Heritage Guns booth at the Southern Side by Side Championship & Exhibition April 22nd – 25th, 2021 at Deep River Sporting Clays in Sanford, NC. ***** Enter the MacNab / John Dickson & Son Scottish Round Action event at the shoot. Participants must shoot a Scottish-made Round Action in this competition.
