Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This is a very cool, unmolested and original Thomas Ketland & Co. British Military .69 Caliber Flintlock Belt Pistol made sometime between 1813 and 1842. It is in very good to good condition overall, and is completely functional. Thomas Ketland & Co. was one of the premier gunmakers in England during this time period in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Ketland supplied both the British Military and export market with both pistols and muskets that were well-designed, simple, and durable. This particular flintlock pistol features a "T. Ketland & Co" marked steel lock, a .69 caliber smoothbore brass barrel 9" inches in length with a steel plug and upper tang, an English Walnut stock, and a brass triggerguard and stock fittings. All of the original Birmingham proofs and martial inspection markings are crisp and clear on the left side of the barrel. The top of the brass barrel is stamped with "London". With the exception of the ramrod, all of the parts on this pistol appear to be 100% original and the gun has a very consistent patina and level of wear from one end to the other. The ramrod appears to be a very old homemade replacement. The overal length of this Ketland pistol is just under 15" inches. The brass barrel has an excellent bore with no major defects, and the lock still has both the half-cock and full-cock positions intact. The stock is very solid and free from any cracks, repairs, or major damage. As you can see, it shows a lot of handling marks that you would expect to see on a used military pistol of this age but no bad spots or eyesores. All of the brass stock fittings are nicely made and still intact on this pistol, including the brass buttcap on the pistol grip, the thumb plate/initial plate on the back spine of the pistol grip, and both ramrod guides. If only this pistol could talk can you imagine the history it has witnessed! If you have been looking for a handsome and original military flintlock pistol for your collection or for display in your home, this Thomas Ketland & Co. example would be an excellent choice. The combination of the large .69 caliber bore and brass barrel really make it stand out from other antique pistols of this type. As an antique, this flintlock pistol can be shipped directly to your home with no FFL needed. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Thomas Ketland & Co.
