Description:
On hold Sale Pending. Model 1861 Providence Tool civil war contract musket dated 1864. Uncleaned full length 3 band dark walnut stock is in rough overall condition. The but stock is fair with a good cartouche but the forearm has many chips, dents, gouges and exhibits excessive wear (see photos). The full length 40" 58 caliber rifled barrel has a mostly smooth brown appearance with some pitting near the breach. The unceaned riffeled bore is dark with visible rifleing. The lock is dark brown with pitting or roughness and is Marked Providence Tool Providence RI and is dated 1864. The but plate trigger guard and barrel bands are dark brown with pitting. The front site is present but the rear site is missing. The ramrod is present and appears to be correct but the tulip head was broke off long ago. A much used and abused old civil war veteran would make a interesting wall hanger. Shipping will be actual cost not to exceed $50 by priority mail.
