Description:
On Hold Sale Pending.   US Springfield Model 1812 Flintlock 69 caliber musket converted to percussion in the early 1850s, dated 1816 on the lock plate and but plate. Very good Full length 3 band dark walnut stock with the recess cheek piece on the left side of the stock and small rectangular barrel bands indicating the model of 1812.  38.5 inch barrel has been shortened long ago by approximately 3 inches and has a smooth dark brown patina.  The percussion lock plate has a brown patina and is marked US Springfield and 1816. The but plate is marked 1816 with a brown patina.  All 3 Correct barrel bands are present also with a dark brown patina.  According to flaydermans this appears to be a type 2 of which 5-10,000 we're made between 1814 and 1816. Reasonably price for a hard to find old musket.
