WW2 SPRINGFIELD M1 OR M-1 GARAND .243 WIN. CONVERSION TO BM59 TYPE SEMI-AUTO RIFLE, CIRCA 1945. Springfield U.S. receiver serial numbered "3,778,XXX" (April, 1945). Correct original trigger group with "D28290-12-SA" altered to accommodate box magazine in the Beretta BM59 style. Bolt stop marked "P.B. BM59" (Pietro Beretta). Bolt marked "D28287-12SA / SB10" with diamond after. Internals removed to accommodate conversion which was unfinished and has a home made spring guide(see photos). Internal rail grooves ground down so box mag will fit. No spring or op-rod(have some instock if you need one). Normal 24" new barrel installed in .243Win caliber and ready to be finished. New commercial barrel stamped "243" and threaded so ready to go with unused rifled bore. Aftermarket thick match buttstock for BM59 style but no forward wood or hardware. Bit of a Frankenstein monster but fun project for any amateur gunsmiths out there who want a .243Win box mag fed M-1 Garand.
