For sale today is a very popular and hard to find Iver Johnson 2-Inch Hammer-less Top Break Revolver. This firearm is chambered for 32 S&W Short, and will accept Five Rounds of Black Powder Ammo. It is in near excellent condition.
This piece shows a small amount of pocket or purse carry and very little actual shooting. The surface maintains more than 98% of the original Bright Nickel finish, and carries the appearance of a new revolver. The cylinder of this revolver rolls freely counter-clockwise, (as designed by Iver Johnson).. Also, in a “Dry-Fire Drill” (using Snap Caps); the timing proved out to be flawless. A hammerless revolver is double action only. These firearms were designed with a strong trigger pull as a safety measure. Each pull of the trigger drops the hammer dead center on the primer of the round in the chamber that is centered on the barrel. All five pulls land exactly the same way, (thus proving out the timing). The action on this revolver is tight and crisp. The bore is shiny with strong visible lands and grooves.
This firearm would stand out in any collection. However, in our opinion, the best use for a piece of this size, weight, and the maximum amount of cartridges loaded, would be a backup piece to your concealed carry weapon. Any military or police tactical entry team member will tell you, “There are times when your main weapon goes down or runs dry leaving no time to reload or try a field fix” The only alternative is to reach for your back up weapon. It would be a sad day if that weapon was your Jack Knife. With an inside the waist band holster, (in the small of the back), you could carry a secondary weapon like this, and forget that it’s there.
What impressed me most, of this firearm, was the condition of the tip up springs. the Auto Eject Springs, and the Top Break Hinge Springs are in like new condition. The firing pin on the hammer-less models does not protrude through the housing. Therefore, if banged or dropped the piece has no chance of accidental discharge involving the firing pin. This revolver can be carried safely while fully loaded. You must use Black Powder ammo with this piece.
As safe as we believe this revolver is, it is still a more than middle aged piece, and should be checked out by a qualified gunsmith before taking it to the range. We recommend a Gunsmith with knowledge of, or has worked on, Iver Johnson Top Break Revolvers.
We allow a three-day inspection period. Any return shipping will be paid for by the buyer. We ship through our FFL provider, to your FFL provider. Shipping charges are paid by the Buyer, (a flat $35.00) We will try to accommodate the buyers desired method of shipping as we can. We cannot ship until all fees are paid, and a copy of your FFL is in hand. Ammo and Speed Strips are not included in the sale.
