Here's a really rare early1900's box for 50 Rem/UMC 50 Black Powder cartridges for the .44 S&W American Revolver. Note: It still has one original cartridge in it." This box could easily be around 100 years old. Revolvers chambered for the "American" were discontinued by S&W in the late l800's and all used Black Powder. Even though smokeless powder cartridges were mostly gone by the 1930's apparently there was a sufficient demand for .44 American rounds that UMC produced them containing Black Powder.
