Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This is a beautiful very lightly-used and well cared-for Smith & Wesson Model 686-5 Distinguished Combat Magnum revolver in .357 Magnum with the sought-after 2.5" inch barrel. Manufactured in 2000 this Model 686-5 is a pre-lock gun. It is obvious that this S&W has spent the vast majority of it's life in a safe, and has had maybe a handful of shells fired thru it at the very most. The Model 686 is one of Smith & Wesson's flagship models, a very well-made and reliable model chambered in the potent .357 Magnum cartridge. First introduced in 1980, the Model 686 has been in production to some degree ever since, has been used all over the world by shooters of every type. This particular example features all-stainless steel construction, a 6-shot fluted cylinder, a 2.5" inch "snub nose" barrel with a full underlug, a black front sight ramp with a hi-viz red insert, an adjustable target-style black rear sight, and black rubber finger-groove combat-style Hogue grips. This S&W Model 686-5 is in superb condition inside and out, rating 98% plus. The stainless steel is bright and clean, free from any pitting, scratches, dents, or major dings. The factory markings are crisp and clean, and the matte blur finish on the rear sight is like-new. The bore in the 2.5" inch barrel is mirror-bright and perfect, with like-new and sharp rifling and zero visible imperfections or wear. The six chambers in the cylinder are equally as clean and bright. The Hogue factory 1-piece grip is in like-new condition as well, free from any wear, damage, or repairs. The grip is tight to the gun with no wiggle or slop, and the texturing on the grip is still well-defined. The action on this Smith is smooth, slick, and perfectly "in time" whether it is worked in single-action or double-action, as fast as you can work it or extremely slow. The cylinder lock-up is excellent at full-lock and and the trigger breaks nicely with a light and smooth pull. The trigger is exceptional when used in single-action operation, breaking crisply with no slop, grit, or excessive travel. All of the controls on this 686-5 are in perfect working order, including the windage and elevation adjustments on the factory adjustable rear sight. This Model 686 has not even been "broken-in" yet and there is no doubt that it will function just as reliably and accurately today as the day it left the factory 21 years ago. If you have been looking for a investment-quality pre-lock 2.5" inch S&W Model 686 this 2000-production example would be an excellent choice.
