Description:
This is a Harpers Ferry production with lockplate marking Eagle US and at the rear of the lock Harpers/Ferry/1850. The barrel is dated 1851 and the left side has two very nice Inspector Cartouches. This is 54 caliber and 33” barrel with very nice bore. The mechanical function is very good. The wood is very nice only a few little nicks and behind the hammer is one triangle shaped 3/8”x 3/8” chip is missing. The brass butt plate is US marked, the barrel bands are brass, trigger guard is brass and inside of the brass patch box is spare nipple. During the Mexican War Jefferson Davis’s Regiment were armed with Mississippi Rifles.
