Description:
Selling a few items from my personal collection due to recent health changes (NOT COVID-RELATED and nothing life-threatening (yet)).  5% of sale price will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation.

Scarce, early Remington Model 700 BDL Heavy Barrel Varmint rifle in caliber 223 Rem with the 1st type fleur-de-lis checkering on the one piece walnut stock, 24" barrel, factory Remington marked aluminum butt plate, 5 shot capacity, hinged floor plate, complete with Nikon 6-18x42 BDC scope with adjustable objective. Serial number 282781 with barrel date code "L R" for February 1968 production. The heavy barrel varmint model came out in 1967 so this is an early 2nd year rifle!

CONDITION:  Barrel exhibits 95% original bright blue starting to thin (camera flash washes it out and is better in natural light than in the pictures). Action is tight and crisp. Safety and floor plate release both work as designed. Stock is repaired on the bottom of the shoulder area where a triangular piece broke off (obviously was dropped, not by me, was like this when I bought it). Very nicely repaired and tight using the original piece that came out. Otherwise stock is excellent with typical light scratches from use. Fleur-de-lis checkering is still quite sharp. Retains original black grip cap and fore end cap with white line spacers. Original swivel studs also intact. Bore is excellent. Grades NRA Modern Very Good (would be Excellent without stock damage). With the Remington factory in Ilion (about 45 minutes from my house) permanently closed, these older Remington firearms are quickly going up in value and becoming collectors prizes, so don't miss out on this piece of American gun-making history!

NOTE: I will sell without the scope and rings if desired. Deduct $250 from price if you don't want this scope and rings.

TERMS: No international sales. Must ship to FFL or C&R license holder (New York State buyers require FFL only, NO EXCEPTIONS). Please be aware of what is legal in your state. 3 day non-firing inspection. Buyer pays return shipping. Payment by bank check, personal check or money order. Also now accepting payments through Zelle. All major credit cards accepted with 4% convenience fee added. Ships by UPS Ground with tracking. Always interested in used long guns and used antique handguns so please contact me if you have anything for sale or trade. 315.251.4799 with questions or concerns. Please keep in mind that I work a full time job during the week and may not be able to immediately respond to your text, phone, or email message. Thanks for looking!
