Scarce, early Remington Model 700 BDL Heavy Barrel Varmint rifle in caliber 243 Win with the 1st type fleur-de-lis checkering on the one piece walnut stock, 24" barrel, factory Remington marked aluminum butt plate, 5 shot capacity, hinged floor plate, complete with Nikon 4-12x40 BDC scope. Serial number 345719 with barrel date code "C R" for April 1968 production. The heavy barrel varmint model came out in 1967 so this is an early 2nd year rifle!
CONDITION: Barrel exhibits 98% original bright blue (camera flash washes it out and is better in natural light than in the pictures). Action is tight and crisp. Safety and floor plate release both work as designed. Stock is excellent with typical light scratches from use. Fleur-de-lis checkering is still quite sharp. Retains original black grip cap and fore end cap with white line spacers. Original swivel studs also intact. Bore is excellent. Some flaking starting on floor plate but still retains 95% finish. Grades NRA Modern Excellent. With the Remington factory in Ilion (about 45 minutes from my house) permanently closed, these older Remington firearms are quickly going up in value and becoming collectors prizes, so don't miss out on this piece of American gun-making history!
