Description:
NSN, .65 Caliber, 9" barrel with a fine, lightly freckled bore. This is a handsome pistol that has an overall pewter gray patina with dark brown freckling along the barrel, and further plum-brown freckling on the cock and frizzen. The lock is marked “(Crown) / GR" with “TOWER" at the rear, and has a matching gray-brown patina. The walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and blemishes, as well as purposefully defaced Broad Arrow and “BO" markings on the heel of the grip. The brass furniture has a mild ochre tarnish, and there are some parallel scratch marks on the exterior of the trigger guard bow. The pistol originally had a brass-tipped wooden ramrod, however a late pattern metal rod (with Crown stamp) is included instead. The rod is shortened at the base, and no longer has the bullet worm. This is a very nice example of a 1799 Pattern Light Dragoon pistol, and rates fine condition overall. Antique
