#4956 Colt S/A, 5-1/2”x45COLT, 85XXX range(1883), VG bore, about a 6-7 on a scale of 10 with just minor lead build-up, no bad spots, but pretty heavy rifling wear. Apparently his guy really used this gun! But while the rifling is wearing thin, it still looks as if it will spin a lead slug just about as good as it ever did, because while these Colt S/As are not target guns, they are pretty danged deadly at 50-60 yards! The mechanics on this Colt is good and it is tight and timing and lock-up are good, as well.The metal is well above average condition with no pitting of any consequence and it has a smooth even plum-brownish-grey patina and the markings are good. Being as this gun was probably used mainly at closer distances, the original (in MHO) owner filed the front sight down about 30% for a closer sight picture. VG+ wood grips showing just minor light wear and they look to be much smoother than one would expect for 136 years old, so they probably have been either lightly cleaned or are replacements About VG-VG+ overall. $2995
