Description:
For Sale: This is a rarely seen rotating nose, flintlock, powder tester from the early 1700 to mid 1800 period.  There are no markings except for the numbers on the dial. Six inches total length. Finely checkered handle with some wood carving near lock (this reminds me of a similar tester that was said to be of French origin) .  Steel metal construction with engraving on side of lock box.  Hammer, frizzen and trigger work as designed.  Rotating nose dial is numbered from 1 to 10.  Has not been cleaned, metal has a darkish patina.  Only flaw that is visable is what appears to be a scrach mid-way on left side of wooden handle.  The handle is solid wood so this doesn't appear to be a crack.  The trigger guard has a slight wobble. A unique piece of black powder history that is a one-of-a-kind collector's item.  I used this in a display on muzzle loading history and started many great conversations with it.  I'm liquidating my collection do to health reasons.  Check photos, ask questions. Thanks steg49
