(Not the open top scoop cylinder variation.) Caliber is .44-40 WCF. Barrel is 7"". Many Merwin and Hulberts were used in Mexico and we have handled many over the years. The reverse side of the revolver has an engraved scene of a Spanish mission on the edge of a lake. The grips are factory pearl and are cracked and chipped on right side with the left side being in good condition. The revolver has approximately 40%-50% original nickel plating. This revolver was laid or stored poorly and has some pitting, but it still has very good eye appeal. These large frame engraved were popular with the Old West, Texas and Mexico. Back in the period of use the Mexican pistoleros carried their pistols in holsters, you find only in Mexico and Texas, very well made with design work called Pitiado. They had beautiful hand stitched decorations. Who ever buys this revolver should find one of these to go with the gun. It would really set the pistol off! SOLD |
