History:
At the beginning of WWII, the WWI era Springfield M1905 bayonets still in service were recalled to be modified. Their 16" blades were cut down to 10", they were arsenal refurbished, and reissued for use with the M1 Garand. The first shortened bayonets were delivered in September 1943. This 1943 dated Bayonet is one of the very first of the shortened ones to be delivered, and most likely to have been issued to combat troops. Produced by Pal Blade and Tool Company, mostly known at the time for the manufacture of Razor Blades. It is rare and sought after by collectors because Pal produced a relatively small run of these from 1943 to 1944 before being released from the contract.
