Description:
EARLY MODEL 51 .380 ACP HAMMERLESS AUTO PISTOL, #4XXX. Considered one of the finest, if not the finest, of the pre-war pocket autos, the 7-shot M-51 was only made from 1918 - 1934. About 54,000 of these were made. The earliest examples have nine slide grooves with the later production having 15. This has the nine grooves and judging by the serial number was probably a first or second year production pistol. Overall fine condition showing normal light carry wear. The slide shows some blue dulling and edge wear, but retains good color as does the back strap. The front strap sand trigger guard also shows some blue ageing and dulling, but not gray or silver. Original Remington-UMC marked grips are fine, tight action, manual and grip safeties function properly, fine bore and original magazine. Early examples like this are difficult to find.
