This Winchester M-1 Carbine, Cal .30 was mfg abt 11/43 as a 1st Block. All od it's component parts are correct for the date of mfg. The gun metal is a olive tone parkerized mostly throughout . The barrel has the correct "w" mark abt 2 1/2 inches fr the muzzle, The front sight is the correct Type 1 w/the Win c thumbnail cut behind the sight blade and is otherwise "UM". . The barrel also measures a "0" and has distinctrifling and is bright and shiney. The acftion is normal and cycles tn the proper manner.. ( I use several reconized M-1 Carbine publicatioon sources ; R. C. Larson's 2nd Edition, Craig Riesch 7th Edition, & Harrison's M-1 carbine (* Indicate's fr One of these sources for info only).
The buttstock is w/o any cracks ,dings or rubs and has the correct cartouche of "WRA/GHD and 3 inches forward of it an ordnance stamp of the "Cross Cannons.
There is a small "w" mark in the sling wellThe hanguard is the correct 2 hole w/a small "w" on the underside. It also is w/o any cracks , dings or rubs
It had limited use . It is a deepgroove "Bull Nose " type and was strickly early Winchester.
This Winchester M-1 Carbine is to me an excellent and rare example of the few remaining Winchester M-1 Carbines. They are becoming more scarce each year.
