Description:
Ballard #2 Sporting Rifle chambered in .38 Long. Manufactured in the late 1870's to early 1880,
this rifle has a 30” octagon barrel with good rifling, a little “dark” and some shallow pitting but very, very shootable. Mechanically very good; very good hammer spring. I think both the stock and forearm have been sanded and re-varnished many years ago. Not much original metal finish is left and what is there is turning to a “brown” patina. Still overall this is a “good” antique and will be lots of fun to shoot.
