The metal is a smooth dull grey-brown with no pitting of consequence and good markings, VG wood (and metal) which is well above average for a ’76, as these usually seem to have been pretty hard-used guns in their days. The big deficit to this gun is the really rotten bore and the possibly missing magazine spring and cartridge plug ….the latter two which actually may be rusted in place in the mag tube. It does look like some previous owner tried to take off the magazine cap to check this out and has buggered it up a fair bit (see photos). Single-set trigger and desireable Long Range Sporting sight. Overall, it has a very handsome appearance Model 1876 and is a relatively scarce length. About VG/VG+ exterior with a Poor bore. This big Winchester would be an excellent candidate to reline to be a really great shooter, and it is priced accordingly. $2550 SOLD Antique: Yes |
