1849 Ames Riflemansknife. ONE OF THE TOP FIVE IN EXISTANCE! Out of a good friends collection who suddenly passed two years ago. Was hidden away for 50 years. The blade would be mint if not for the five spots that have been lightly cleaned on the obverse side and one on the reverse side. All of the factory polishing marks are present. You never see a Riflemansknife with this kind of factory finishing. You very seldom ever see a Riflemansknife period. Scabbard and frog are FANTASTIC! Very few even have their frogs. The original white buff pad is all there. Brass has a beautiful patina. IT JUST ABOUT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER. The very first military side knife purchased by the U.S. Military in a contract of 1000 in 1849. With normal attrition, maybe 10% or 100 survived. Please call 973-214-3407 with questions.
