Description:
"

This fine over-under swivel breech Kentucky percussion double rifle was made by Amos S. Bisbing of Tannersville and White Haven, Pennsylvania. He is known for high quality percussion swivel rifles. The overall length of this rifle is approx. 49"". One of the 32.75"" octagon 50 caliber over-under barrels is rifled and one is smooth bore, making this a buck and ball gun. Each bore is very good with the rifled bore having very good rifling. The barrels feature a wood ramrod on one side and a decorative brass rib on the other. Each barrel has a blade front and fixed rear sight. Each barrel has decorative engraving from the rear sight to the breech. At the center of each is A.S. BISBING in an arc over MAKER with the rifled side much more readable than the smooth bore side. A lever in front of the trigger guard releases the barrels so they can be swiveled. The swivel mechanism is tight. Each bolster area has decorative engraving and there is a decorative band around the swivel mechanism. The lock, hammer, and barrel tang have decorative engraving. The German silver butt plate, trigger guard, cheek piece inlay, side plate, patch box, and stock comb cover are fine. The butt plate toe, trigger guard, cheek piece inlay, side plate, and patch box feature decorative engraving. The single trigger is adjustable. The two brass ramrod thimbles are fine. The stock is fine with no cracks or chips. The action functions correctly. This is a fine example of a Pennsylvania-Kentucky percussion swivel breech percussion buck and ball rifle that has many desirable features.
