Description:
Very nice earlier post war Winchester 70 with low comb stock and solid bolt knob in the greatest all-around hunting caliber, the venerable 30-06. S/N 225806X with matching # bolt made in 1952. Regarding the "X" suffix at the end of the S/N, it is my understanding that this indicates it has a twin brother somewhere out there with the same S/N. Naturally, it is quite rare to encounter this phenomenon and I can not recall having another out of many hundreds of Model 70s sold. This is a standard weight rifle with 24" barrel. Nice, more honey colored wood with a small bit of figure near the toe. Overall condition is excellent at 98%. All mechanical functions are working smoothly and properly and the bore is excellent. A great one to add to the collection.
