Description:
This H&R Model 676 Convertible has to be the nicest in existence!  Bought new by the original owner in 1980, this revolver was never once carried, fired, or even removed from the box after oiling it the first day.  It is 100% complete with the original box, extra cylinder in .22 Magnum, and all of the paperwork.  All of the paperwork was still attached to the gun in a bag secured a plastic push-thru tie.  After taking the cover photo we had to use a thin Exacto knife blade to hold open the little prongs of the plastic tie to remove it without breaking anything.  This H&R looks and functions like it shipped from the factory 2 days ago rather than 41 plus years ago!  The double-action/single-action H&R Model 676 Convertible revolver was introduced in 1975 and remained in production until late 1980.  The Model 676 featured a gloss-blued barrel, cylinder, and triggerguard (with a finger spur) mated to a color case-hardened frame and ejector rod housing, a 6-shot unfluted cylinder (for both .22 LR and .22 Magnum), a side loading and ejection port, fixed iron sights, and a 1-piece smooth American Walnut grip.  The H&R 676 Convertible was a success for the firm, as it was a very well-made, reliable, and accurate rimfire revolver.  Priced less than the competition of the time, you would be hard-pressed to see any lack of quality with the stunning bright case-colors on the frame, the bright gloss blue on the barrel and cylinder, and the excellent overall fit and finish of the gun.  This particular example is serial number AU108904 made in 1980, and as mentioned before, looks like it came out of a time capsule.  The original factory finishes are spectacular, rating 99%.  If not for a few itty-bitty tiny little specs of surface rust here and there that the dried oil did not cover, it would rate 100%.  As it sits, you will be very hard-pressed to find anything worthy of even a 1% deduction overall.  This gun is unfired outside of the 3-shot factory test-firing and the bore and chambers of the cylinders are pristine and perfect.  You can see 3 very light halos on the face of the cylinder around the 3 chambers that were fired at the factory, the remainder are spotless.  The original factory case colors on the frame and ejector rod housing really have to be seen in person to truly be appreciated.  The colors are bright with 100% coverage, and there are no spots of wear or discoloration present.  The factory 1-piece smooth American Walnut grip is in perfect shape, free from any wear, damage, cracks, chips, or repairs of any kind.  The action on this H&R is still very tight and precise, and it is in perfect time no matter how the gun is operated.  All of the other controls on this Model 676 Convertible are in "like-new" perfect working order as well.  The extra factory cylinder in .22 Magnum for this gun is in excellent condition overall.  The factory blue finish rates 98 to 99%, with only a few very tiny specs of surface rust visible under close inspection.  The .22 Magnum cylinder has perfect chambers, a perfect star at the rear, and shows no signs of even having been test-fired at the factory like the .22 LR cylinder.  The original box that comes with this revolver still has the original factory end-label intact that is serial-numbered to the gun, and remains in very good condition with only some light storage wear to the exterior.  All of the paperwork that comes with it is in perfect like-new condition, including the plastic bag it came in and the plastic hanger used to attach it to the triggerguard.  After the pictures were taken of the gun by itself we re-attached the bag and paperwork just as we found it.  Whether you are a serious H&R collector and want the very best Model 676 Convertible in existence, or just a shooter/hunter that would like to own a classy vintage .22 caliber pistol in exceptional condition, here is your chance to get the best example of this type we have had in decades!
