This French Model 1816 flintlock pistol was manufactured by the Maubeuge Arsenal in 1822. The overall length is approx. 14.5"". The approx. 7.75"" round 67 caliber barrel has an excellent, bright smooth bore. The barrel is marked MA with a proof to the rear on the right oblique flat and c.1822 (date of manufacture) on the left oblique flat. The barrel tang is marked Mle 1816. The barrel and lock are bright with areas of very light staining. The lock is marked Mre Rle over de Maubeuge. The brass furniture are fine with a nice aged patina. The stock is fine with use dents and dings concentrated on the right grip, sharp edges, and no cracks or chips. The left flat has two inspection B's and B.C. 1822 at the rear. The ramrod and butt swivel are present. The action functions correctly. This much better than average Model 1816 flintlock pistol is fit for the finest collection.
