Griffin & Howe Sporter #1771 - .404 Jeffery – Built on a 1948 Model 70 "Transition" Action - Jeweled Action, Two Panel Checkered Bolt Knob, G&H Side Mount with 1" Rings and Lyman Peep Sight, 26" with Barrel Band Swivel and G&H Banded Ramp Front Sight. Typical G&H Stock with Cheekpiece, Horn Tip, Blued Steel Grip Cap, and Sling Swivel Studs - LOP is 13-1/2” over a Silver’s Pad. Weight 10 lbs. 8 oz. Includes Dies, Brass, Bullets, Ammo as pictured.
Appears to be original G&H finishes at about 97+%. Bore is Excellent Plus.
I’ve owned two G&H rifles with numbers very close to 1771. Both were made in 1948. This rifle was probably built in the late 1940s.
