Description:
This is a very handsome, lightly-used Colt Trooper Mk.III with a 4" barrel chambered in .22 Magnum in excellent condition overall.  This Trooper Mk.III is serial number Y3280 and was built in 1979.  It is an all-original gun that has not been modified or altered in any way.  The Colt Trooper Mk.III was introduced 1969 as an improved model of the original Trooper (discontinued in 1969) and remained in production for 14 years until 1983.  The Trooper Mk.III was offered in .22LR, .22 Magnum, .357 Magnum, and .38 Special.  It could be had in a factory gloss-blue or Nickel plated finish and in barrel lengths of 4", 6", or 8" inches.  The Trooper Mk.III was a popular wheelgun with both law enforcement and civilian shooters as the design was well-made, reliable, and accurate.  Out of the 4 calibers offered during the production run, the .22 Magnum is the scarcest and is the most sought-after chambering by collectors today.  This particular .22 Magnum example still shows a bright and glossy factory blue finish and shows only some very minor handling/storage marks, rating 97 to 98%.  The biggest deduction from the finish condition is a small little streak of finish wear just above the second Roman numeral "I" in the factory barrel legend on the left side of the barrel.  As you can see from the close-up of this area and assorted pictures, it does very little to detract from the extremely clean overall look of the Colt.  The remaining deductions are from a VERY faint drag-line around the cylinder and a few tiny little marks on the cylinder face, all of which are only visible under extremely close inspection.  The trigger shows no wear whatsoever, and the exposed rear grip strap looks like-new.  The color case-hardened hammer still shows 100% coverage of vivid and bright colors with no wear or fading.  The bore in the 4" barrel is mirror-bright and pristine with perfect sharp rifling and no visible imperfections.  The 6 chambers in the cylinder are equally as clean and free from damage or visible wear.  The factory grips on this Trooper Mk.III are bright-looking and clean with no visible wear to the checkering or finish whatsoever, however, there are a few tiny little chips out of the lower edge of the grips from poor safe storage where it was making contact with a sharp edge of another handgun when the safe door was opened and closed.  These are visible in the close-up picture of the butt of the grips.  The action on this Colt is smooth, slick, and in perfect time.  The trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and it breaks very nicely in single-action operation.  All of the controls on this Trooper are in perfect working order, including the adjustments on the rear sight.  This Trooper should function just as well today as it did when it left the factory.  If you have been looking for a very cool and sought-after vintage Colt for your collection, this 4" Trooper Mk.III in .22 Magnum would be an excellent choice.
