Description:
This is a beautiful early 1980's vintage High Standard Sentinel Mk.1 .22 caliber revolver complete with the original box, paperwork, and shipping bag. Bought new by the original owner and put into storage until now, this Sentinel Mk.1 was still in the shipping bag inside the original box, coated in dried factory oil when we received it. The Sentinel Mk.1 was introduced in 1974 and remained in production until 1984. The Sentinel Mark.1 replaced the earlier "number series" Sentinels and was offered in .22 LR or .22 Magnum, and was the first model to have a steel frame optional. The 9-shot DA/SA Mark.1 revolver also featured adjustable target sights, wrap-around walnut grips, and either a 2", 3", or 4" inch barrel. The Sentinel Mark 1 proved to be a great little .22 caliber revolver, and it competed well with it's contemporaries. This particular example is chambered in .22 Long Rifle and has the extra 22 MAG cylinderand and a 2" inch barrel. It appears unfired but may have been fired at some point, there is no way to know for sure. The original factory gloss blue finish is bright and beautiful, rating 98%. It does not show any powder residue or wear on the forcing cone or face of the cylinder whatsoever, and outside of a few tiny handling/storage marks and a very faint drag-line around the cylinder you will not find any deductions. Unfortunately the sharp edges left on the bolt from the factory ensure that if the action is worked even one full time around it makes a drag line. The "in the white" sides of the hammer and trigger are bright and in excellent condition, free from any wear marks and all of the straight metal grain is 100% visible. This indicates they have not been cleaned or polished since leaving the factory. The bluing on the face and rear of the trigger is perfect, as-is the bluing on the rear face of the hammer. As you can see from the pictures, none of these deductions detract any appreciable amount from the pristine overall look of this High Standard. The factory smooth Walnut grips are in excellent condition. They are free from any mechanical wear, chips, cracks, repairs, or damage of any kind. They are fit nicely to the gun, the factory varnish/finish is 100% intact like-new, and they fit together tightly with no gap or wiggle. The bore is mirror-bright and pristine. The rifling looks new with sharp lands and grooves throughout the barrel and there are no visible imperfections whatsoever. The 9 chambers in the cylinder are equally as perfect. The action on this Sentinel Mk.1 is smooth and perfectly in-time, whether it is worked single or double-action. All of the controls are in perfect working order, tight and like-new. As mentioned before, this High Standard comes with everything it shipped from the factory with, including the original box with serial-numbered end-label, all of the paperwork, and even the plastic shipping bag, all of which are in great shape. If you have been looking for an investment-worthy Sentinel Mark 1, this is it!
