Here we present a WW2 Soviet Captured German Mauser 42 Code Model 98 Rifle manufactured in 1939. In 1898 the German Army purchased a Mauser design, the Model 98, which incorporated improvements introduced in earlier models. It was used through both World Wars. This one was made in 1939, during the Second. It bears the Soviet capture mark “X” on the receiver, and the German WaffenAmt or inspection markings have been dimpled. This rifle saw a refurbishment process so that it could be put back in service, probably in East Germany, which was Soviet controlled after the war. Thus worn out parts were disposed of and this was made into a super functional rifle for years to come. Parts are mix-numbered or re-numbered to match as well as refinished due to this process. The overall condition is very good+. The action is excellent. The bore is very bright with sharp rifling. This example sports a solid stock all around. Numbers on the barrel and receiver are originally matching, while the bolt and magazine have been hand-marked to match and some other parts have original and non-matching numbers. This is a very nice rifle with likely decades of use, first by the Nazi Germans during the Second World War, then by the Soviets during the Cold War! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 23-3/4 inches. Caliber: 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee.
