Here we present a Wilhelm Brenneke German Single Shot Stalking Rifle in 8.15mm, made circa the early-1900s in Germany. Brenneke was a well-known hunter, inventor, and entrepreneur in Germany. He became renowned for his firearm cartridge inventions, all of which are named after him. Not too many German single shot hunting rifles can be found because most serious hunters likely owned either a “Drilling”, a combination gun, or a bolt action Sporting Rifle. But, there were those who know they needed only one shot, and they were the ones that were attracted to this type of rifle. This would have been a very handy rifle to carry and load for the forester or hunter. Its single shot action would have been great to teach a young lad the importance of making every shot count!
The overall condition is very good. The action is strong. The bore is bright and remains in good shape with nice rifling. The stock is solid with some old hairline repairs made around the wrist and receiver. We believe this is chambered in the 8.15x46 cartridge. This is a very light, single shot hunting rifle with a double set trigger from Germany!
