Description:
When Roy Weatherby first went into business in California in the late 1940's his first rifles were developed by using the famous FN
( Fabrique Nationale ) mauser action, there guns are commonly referred to as "Southgate" guns.  If you ever come across one of these fine rifles take a close look at the workmanship.
The barrel is a 24 inch number one contour , the action is FN mauser with claw extractor, the stock is beautiful California walnut
with the exclusive beautiful red Weatherby finish. and the checkering is hand cut.with the ebony forend.
This rifle is in exceptional condition and I don't think that it has been shot very much or for that matter been in the field. The mating of the stock to the barreled action is superb. I haven't personally weighed the rifle however from experience I would say that it weighs about 7 1/2 pounds.
This fine rifle was manufactured in or about 1950 and needless to say is very collectible.!!
