Description:
Beautiful and untouched Pre War 70 in the king of calibers 30-06 (.30 GOV"T '06). S/N 54913 with matching scribed bolt. This is an interesting and unique S/N in that it is the VERY LAST rifle made during the WWII era when Winchester had stopped recording production on 11/2/42 at S/N 52548. Recorded production resumed on 1/24/46 with S/N 54914. The condition is outstanding showing 99% Blue. Even the somewhat fragile bottom metal of the Pre Wars looks nearly perfect and has not been redone. Wood is right there with a similar quality of finish, but does show a few scattered small but noticable dents so am rating 97-98%. Rear receiver bridge is undrilled, mechanics are butter smooth, and bore is excellent. Unmolested Pre Wars are tough to find in any shape and this one would be even tougher to upgrade. Great rifle!
