The Winchester Model 61 Slide Rifle has a unique design with a slide-action rarely seen amongst rifles. The sliding motion chambers a .22 Winchester rimfire round from the under-barrel tubular magazine and cocks an internal hammer. The lightweight design and quick cocking mechanisms made this a popular option for young man's rifles for all purposes, as it was marketed the "Boy's Rifle" in the 1930's. This particular rifle was amongst the earliest made, as it was manufactured in 1937, making this an even more desirable classic.
