Description:
This is a very neat WW2 Canadian Military Lend Lease-supplied Smith & Wesson M&P revolver in .38 S&W. This gun has not been import marked and is all-original and matching except for the grips, which are the correct vintage and type but are serial numbered on the reverse to another gun. While the British-proofed examples of this gun are fairly common, the Canadian Military "Broad Arrow "C" marked guns are much scarcer. This S&W has an attractive patina to the original factory blue finish, which shows some wear and age that you would expect to see on an issued and carried WW2 sidearm. All of the factory markings are still crisp and clear, as are the additional Canadian proofs applied to the barrel, cylinder, and frame. The trigger and hammer still show some light case colors, particularly in the more protected areas. The bore in 6" inch barrel is excellent, bright and clean with sharp rifling and no visible erosion or pitting. The 6 chambers of the cylinder are also in great shape and free from damage. The grips on this Smith are in great shape overall, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage. Both grip panels show only wear consistent with the rest of the gun and have clean checkering. The brass escutcheons look to have been replaced but the S&W Medallions are original and in excellent condition. The action on this M&P is smooth and perfectly "in time" whether the revolver is operated in single or double-action. All of the controls on this gun are in perfect working order, and there is no doubt that this Smith would make a fine shooter. This WW2 Lend Lease Canadian Military Smith & Wesson M&P model would be a great addition to any World War 2 weapons collection.
