This stands for Nikita I, King of Montenegro. The overall length is approx. 10.5"". The 5"" round 11.2mm caliber barrel has an excellent bore with bright strong rifling. The left side of the barrel lug is marked L. GASSER over WEIN (Vienna) over OTTAKRING over PATENT over the serial number, 12520, over GUSSSTAHL over a double eagle Austrian proof. The left side of the frame is stamped LG over an apple with an arrow through it over S.MARKE. All metal is smooth and bright with very minor staining. The checkered wood grips are very good with a use bruise on the left and with no cracks or chips. The grip screw is a replacement. The action, which has a very strong mainspring, functions correctly in single and double action. This fine example of a scarce Montenegro Model 1870 pistol would be a great fit in any early European military cartridge revolver collection. SOLD Antique: Yes |
