Description:
"

This British New Land Pattern Sea Service flintlock pistol was produced under the reign of King William IV (1830 - 1837). The New Land Pattern Sea Service pistol is very similar to the standard New Land Pattern pistols with the exception of the 57 vs. 65 caliber and the sea service belt hook and butt cap. The overall length is approx. 15.5"". The 9"" round 57 caliber barrel has a good smooth bore with scattered roughness. The barrel has a crown over GR proof on the left and a crown on the top rear. All metal parts are bright with scattered light staining. The lock has a crown over WR and crown with broad arrow to the right. The brass nose cap, ramrod pipe, trigger guard, butt cap, and side plate are very good with a nice aged patina. The belt hook is absent with the attachment hole being filled. The captured ramrod is complete. The stock is very good with issue dents and dings with the most pronounced being at the upper rear of the lock. It is marked with a B and broad arrow BO near the lock side teardrop. The left flat is stamped WG. The action functions correctly. These sea service pistols from the reign of William IV are rarely seen.
