Description:
Serial #6551, .450 CF, 4 1/2" octagonal barrel with a good bore that has mild freckling and light pitting along its length. This revolver retains 75-80% of the original bright blue finish, with the balance turned to smooth plum-brown patina, especially on the cylinder, as well as some silvering along the edges and corners. The Adams commercial markings are crisp and clear on the right side, while the topstrap and barrel are engraved: “WM POWELL & SON CARR"S LANE BIRMINGHAM". The checkered walnut grip is in very good condition without any cracks or chips, but there is some light-moderate flattening of the points. The mechanism is fully functional, and the revolver rates very fine-near excellent condition overall. The revolver was purchased from noted British handgun author Joel Black, who himself purchased it from the renowned Nunnemacher Collection (the bulk of which now resides in the Milwaukee Public Museum). This is a great looking example of a late production, .450 Adams revolver, and has quite a bit of original finish remaining. Antique
