This is the ORIGINAL flag of THE UNION RIFLES company being organized by Capt. John D. Johnson in the spring and summer of 1861. Being part of the 10th NEW JERSEY INFANTRY. It was presented to the company by THE LADIES OF LUMBERTON TOWNSHIP sometime in the summer of 1861. Lumberton Township is in Burlington County, New Jersey. It is silk and hand painted. Framed it measures 67"x 63 1/2". It is simply GORGEOUS! Not to many Silk Painted Civil War flags have survived in this condition. A centerpiece for a New Jersey Civil War collection!
