Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are over the top proud to offer this stunning FN Superposed that was special ordered in the year of our Lord 1968. The provenance is 100%, from the initial letter from the importer stating that it may be impossible to ship a non-Browning FN to the United States, to the original owner's widow's letter to the second owner. The original cancelled checks, for 500 and 585 dollars, are also included. It contains details about specifications, the worry of having to ship through Bagkok and incur stampings on the gun, to progress reports and US Customs letters. One letter explains that FN only offered a maximum of 30 inch barrels in 1968, but that they had LEFTOVER 32 inch barrels from the 1963 order placed by the US Trap Team. Unbelievable! That is why this is a 1963 dated gun completed in 1968. Narrow rib 32 inch barrels are extremely rare. The icing on the cake is the presence of both original Browning targets that proved the choke in each barrel. The original proof certificate is also included. We have never seen such complete documentation for any gun we have handled. The Superposed itself is magnificent. It is fitted with 32 inch vent rib tubes, with rich, deep blue and are chrome lined. I have never seen a better mirror bore. The order specified the narrow rib as used by the US Olympic team, even though the Broadway rib was available. The 3 piece forearm is a sight to behold. The highly figured walnut is gorgeous, and the fine checkering compliments it perfectly. Above all else, the highly detailed "London style" engraving is fabulous. My photos do not do it justice, as the fine lines create such rich engraving. J. Barten, regarded as the finest engraver at FN, was chosen to do this special work. The trigger appears to be hand checkered, as well. She is in fine condition despite being 53 years old. There are only the slightest of handling marks, and the lever resides well to the right of center. All measurements match the original order, and she is ready to top your Browning collection. This near pristine condition, combined with the absolutely complete provenance, is what collectors dream of finding. If you have been looking for the right Superposed to collect, or for investment, but want something nobody else has, then look no further.
