Description:
This Saddle Ring 1894 Carbine in 30 WCF caliber was manufactured in 1919. This rifle was ordered and sold to the Allegheny County Detective Bureau/Prison System of the state of Pennsylvania in 1920. This rifle remained in the prison guard gun armory and daily useage until 2007 when the entire inventory was upgraded. The rifle is not marked as such denoting its provenance. But the serial number shows its original sale and inventory into the Prison System. I have never gotten around to getting a Winchester factory letter showing this rifle's history and provenance. The rifle shows handling wear on both the receiver, buttstock and forend. There is still alot of original factory blue on the barrel and magazine tube. The action is still tight and the rifling is still bright and shiny. It is a true western carbine and has the short western style carbine rear sight.
