Out of my collection, I have for sale a very early, completely original, Springfield M1873 Trapdoor rifle.It has all the early features to include the short comb-long wrist stock with the ESA cartouche in a oval, first variation of the rear sight and front sight, early cleaning rod, early block with the eagle head and crossed arrows, 1873 dated lock plate and type 1 hammer, two notch tumbler, and the musket trigger guard. The wood and metal have 95% original finish.The bore is very sharp and shiney...like new. In my 50 years of collecting, this is the finest , original, early M1873 rifle that I have owned or seen. I think it would be very difficult to find a nicer example. I would like to get $1400.00 plus shipping/insurance.
