DWM P.08 Luger Military Model Of 1920

Manufacturer: DWM
Model: Model 1920 Military
Caliber: 9 mm
Bore: Excellent
Condition: Excellent
Metal Condition: Excellent

Description:
An excellent example of a WWII G.I. bring-back German P.08 Luger 9 mm.
Has a 1921 chamber date with all matching numbers. Stamped with WaffenAmt Code WaA4 - Otto Sindel, Berlin 1934.

The bore is bright and clean, with deep lands and groves. Functions perfectly, hold-open is present and operates fine.
Parts are all correct, numbered and matching, has a three-digit serial number with an "a" suffix.
The original tin magazine with wood base is correctly unmarked and is the correct magazine for this 1920 Military model.

The steel is in excellent condition with sharp lines. The finish in high areas makes it appear as the steel may be rough or oxidized, though it is not. High areas show bluing loss, with the top of the side-plate showing the most silvering. Overall, the metal is in excellent condition.

The grips show very well on this piece, an even dark chocolate color with no flattened checkering and no damage.

The magazine is in excellent condition, has a superficial ding at the front forward edge which has no bearing on feed or operation. The wood base is excellent with sharp lines and no damage with coloration to match the grips. Magazine seats firmly and snug, falls freely on depression of magazine release.

The bluing is near full coverage, with the very slightest hint of frosting on both the front and back straps. The straw small parts each show a high percentage of straw color, the right side more so than the left.

Mechanically, a strong, solid Luger which is very tight and functions perfectly.
The 1940 dated CEY, Karl Budischovsky u. Soehne, Oesterreichische Lederindustrie AG, Vienna, is in excellent condition

An excerpt from The Luger Pistol by Fred A. Datig
"By 1920 the Germans had begun to manufacture or assemble (probably the latter), "as new," Lugers for the Army. These,
too, were EXACTLY like the Model 1908/14 except that they were dated "1920," "1921," or "1922." To my recollection, I
have never seen any with dates other than these three years. These Model 1920 Lugers were of very fine workmanship,
for this period and appeared to have been made entirely of new parts."
