First Gen Colt Single Action Army 44-40 Documented Colt letter indicating shipment to Hartley & Graham on August 1, 1883.
This SAA has serial number 95981 on the frame, trigger guard, back strap. The cylinder has 5981. The barrel is numbered 5918 with the last two digits having been stamped reverse. Small "44" visible on barrel bottom. Small "44CF" visible on left side of trigger guard. One piece wooden grips showing wear consistent with the overall condition of this revolver. The fit is excellent with one small wear spot on the right side. The etched panel is very visible with the "COLT" only slightly more worn. Barrel address is fully readable. The mechanics of the revolver are fine. The hammer, trigger, and cylinder all perform as they should. Overall a great early Etched Panel SAA. Great patina and a nice tight gun.
