Here's a Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum Revolver in nickel finish. This is a double action revolver built on the N frame, more commonly known as a Model 29. This particular specimen is a no-dash model. It is often referred to as a four-screw model. The serial number is S185079, indicating it was likely manufactured between 1958-1959. It has a 6-1/2” barrel with shrouded ejector rod, a serrated ramp front sight with a red insert, and a S&W micrometer click adjustable rear sight with white outline, although very little of the white outline remains. The gun’s finish is bright nickel with a blued front sight, a blued rear sight, a blued extractor, and case colored target hammer and trigger. Both the hammer and trigger show areas of surface rust which are documented in close-up photographs. The gun has standard walnut S&W target grips with a diamond around the screw escutcheons.
A large S&W logo appears on the frame’s right side. The serial number is stamped on the left side of the frame opposite the crane, on the bottom of the grip frame, and on the underside of the extractor. The model designation 29 is stamped on the frame as well. Numeric assembly numbers as well as the letter ‘N’ are stamped in numerous places throughout the revolver.
