Description:
"

This British New Land Pattern Sea Service flintlock pistol was produced under the reign of King William IV (1830 - 1837). The New Land Pattern Sea Service pistol is very similar to the standard New Land Pattern pistols with the exception of the 57 vs. 65 caliber bore and the sea service belt hook and butt cap. The overall length is approx. 15.5"". The 9"" round 57 caliber barrel has a fine smooth bore. The barrel has a crown over GR over broad arrow proof on the left and a crown on the top rear. All metal parts have a gray-brown patina. The lock has a crown over WR and crown with broad arrow to the right. The brass nose cap, ramrod pipe, trigger guard, butt cap, and side plate are very good with a nice aged patina. The belt hook and captured ramrod are present. The stock is very good with light usage marks, and an old repaired crack on the bottom from the nose cap to trigger guard tang. It is marked with broad arrow BO near the lock side teardrop, and with three storekeeper's marks on the right grip. The left flat is stamped TC above the belt hook and a symbol over a P on the left flat. The action functions correctly. These sea service pistols from the reign of William IV are rarely seen and this one is a very nice example.
