Description:
BURNSIDE 4TH MODEL, 1864 CARBINE, .54CAL, (ONE .54 Cal  Bullet). LOP 12 3/4". 21" barrel with a good bore for it's age. Both the metal and wood have been nicely refinished. These guns were Manufactured, by Bristol Firearms Co & Burnside Rifle Co. Cost: $38.50, about 55,000 were made, and Delivered to Union Cavalrymen, They were the Third Most Popular Weapon used by the Union.  They were made up until 1870. The only Weapon to use the Tapered Cartridge.  Cartridge Invented by Burnside as Well.  SN#8656, MFG: 1864-65. Weight: 6.8 lbs. More photos available upon request.
