Description:
This is a rare, original wall tin, illustrating a US Ammunition Co. representative extolling the virtues of his company's products to American and foreign military officers attending the Bisley Matches. The tin measures 28 1/4" x 22 1/8" and has a black border with "US AMMUNITION" along the top; "DEMONSTRATED STANDARD OF THE WORLD" along the bottom; and a smaller "AT BISLEY ENGLAND" caption under the image. The results of the 1908 Bisley World Championship Matches is present in the lower right corner of the image (the USA won with England in 2nd Place). The tin is in excellent condition save for a single small area of dark oxidation in the middle of the image, but as it occurs on a dark portion of the picture, and is not evident without close examination. This is a fabulous example of one of the more attractive, and desirable advertisement tins. It would make a great addition to any collection, or decorative accent for a gun room or library.
